This is a joint meetup with the Cambridge Pinochle Association, a new Meetup group specializing in the promotion and play of this historic game. Check 'em out!
Pinochle is a trick-taking game typically for two, three or four players and played with a 48 card deck. Derived from the card game bezique, players score points by trick-taking and also by forming combinations of cards into melds. It is thus considered part of a "trick-and-meld" category which also includes a cousin, belote. Each hand is played in three phases: bidding, melds, and tricks.
The Cambridge Pinochle Association is a new Meetup group looking for those who enjoy playing this game, as well as those who are willing to learn. Tobor and Meg are great teachers, and would be happy to teach you "double deck" pinochle, which is the game the group plays.
There's a little bit of everything in this game, so if you are a fan of card games in general, you might just like Pinochle. Be careful, or you may get hooked :)
