Magic: The Gathering in Medford

Come join Veronica and friends for a night of Magic: The Gathering over at Not Your Average Joe's! This event is part of our "Wednesday Night Magic" series.

It doesn't matter if you are an expert planeswalker, or don't know anything about Magic: The Gathering -- you can come to play or learn this amazing strategy game. There are will be two tables - one for beginners who want to learn how to play, and experienced players who just want to duel biggrin All decks of all types are welcome for this "casual play" event. If you want to learn, no cards necessary!

Created by a mathematics professor and game designer in the early 90's, Magic: The Gathering has been one of the most successful trading card games in recent history. Although the game's fantasy motif is marketed to younger players, its strategic gameplay and card artwork has appealed to players of all ages. Don't let the theme or marketing fool you: this is truly "chess with cards". Any player who likes critical thinking will enjoy this game.

HOW TO GET THERE

This location is easily accessible from Rt. 16, Rt. 28 and Rt. 93, and is walking distance from the T, near the new Station Landing apartment complex. Here is a map of the area.

By Subway: Take the Orange Line to Wellington. Walk over the skybridge and cross through the parking lot. Upon exiting the garage, you'll see a building complex (SL75) across the street. Cross the street and take a right. Follow around this building and you'll find Not Your Average Joe's on the opposite side of the street.

By Car: If you are driving, be aware that Station Landing is at the intersection of Rt. 16 and Rt. 28, and you can enter the Station Landing complex from the north-bound side of Rt. 28, or the east-bound side of Rt. 16. There are a number of stores in the Station Landing complex -- look for the Margarita's, Starbucks or Not Your Average Joe's signs. NYAJ is located right off of Rte. 28. Although there is free parking all around the building, we recommend that C&C members park in the garage underneath the restaurant.

I don't know if I can make it to one of these events in the near future, especially since I live all the way out in Waltham and DISLIKE driving in Boston (who doesn't?!) However, I found a group to play Magic out this way, and we'd love to get a tourney or something together if anyone's interested. I'll make it an idea on the main page.

Hi John -- sorry that you wouldn't be able to make it because of the distance. I know that there people out in MetroWest that want to play, if you email me with your group's information, maybe we can try something out there with you guys!
