Magic in Medford

Come join Veronica and friends for a night of Magic: The Gathering over at Not Your Average Joe's! This month, we'll be experimenting with Wednesdays.

It doesn't matter if you are an expert planeswalker, or don't know anything about Magic -- you can come to play or learn this amazing strategy game. There are will be two tables - one for beginners who want to learn how to play, and experienced players who just want to duel biggrin All decks of all types are welcome for this "casual play" event.

Created by a mathematics professor and game designer in the early 90's, Magic: The Gathering has been one of the most successful trading card games in recent history. Although the game's fantasy motif is marketed to younger players, its strategic gameplay and card artwork has appealed to players of all ages. Don't let the theme or marketing fool you: this is truly "chess with cards". Any player who likes critical thinking will enjoy this game.

This location is easily accessible from Rt. 16, Rt. 28 and Rt. 93, and is walking distance from the Wellington Orange Line subway stop, near the new Station Landing apartment complex. There is free parking in the garage underneath the restaurant, and free parking all around the building.

If you are driving, be aware that Station Landing is at the intersection of Rt. 16 and Rt. 28, and you can enter the Station Landing complex from the north-bound side of Rt. 28, or the east-bound side of Rt. 16. It is across the street from Kappy's. There are a number of stores in the Station Landing complex -- look for Starbucks or Qdoba. Not Your Average Joe's is right next to these shops.

So don't just sit at home -- come join the fun!

Lots of fun, and I learned an important lesson: cockiness doesn't pay! :)

It was a good time last night! P.S. Sean, a little tinsy cockiness is OK - confidence booster alright! You play very well and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose and that's the way Magic is!!!

It was a really fun night, I met a lot of nice people. There were a many different types of decks around, some with cards I've never played against, but everyone was helpful when it came to any questions about cards or rulings.
