Trumpapalooza

We have a great event for you tonight. Maria will be hosting our first ever Trumpapalooza, a showcase of some of the best trick-taking card games ever. These games are non-competitive and are very social, so players of all levels are welcome.

The following games are set to be played this evening:

  • Hearts is one of the most popular card games, as it is taught to many children, and it is included as a game on most modern computers. It's usually played at most of our meetups, and this will be our opening act biggrin
  • Spades was introduced in Cincinnati, OH, sometime between 1937 and 1939. From there, it spread to other cities in the general region and eventually into the military. Today, the game has seen an increase in popularity due to online card rooms and tournaments. If Sean is around, I'm sure he'll be able to teach you.
  • Setback is of North American origin, which was derived from the old English game All Fours. Kaela loves this game, and she plays it at all of her meetups.
  • Briscola is one of the our more popular games. The Italian game is popular because it is simple to learn, yet requires a lot of skill to master. Finding a teacher is quite easy -- just ask any of the older members, lol!
  • Euchre was once our national card game, and although much of its popularity has died, it is still played in many parts of the country. Be careful -- this game can be addicting!

Which one is your favorite? Tell us in your RSVP.

This location is easily accessible from Rt. 16, Rt. 28 and Rt. 93, and is walking distance from the Wellington Orange Line subway stop, near the new Station Landing apartment complex. There is FREE parking in the garage underneath the restaurant, and FREE parking right outside the building.

If you are driving, be aware that Station Landing is at the intersection of Rt. 16 and Rt. 28, and you can enter the Station Landing complex from the north-bound side of Rt. 28, or the east-bound side of Rt. 16. It is across the street from Kappy's. There are a number of stores in this area -- look for Starbucks or Qdoba. Not Your Average Joe's is right next to these shops.

So don't just sit at home -- come join the fun!

Cindy, No problem at all. Everyone tends to come and go as they please and we are usually there till about 9:30/10. Jim, I?ve never heard of 300, but I wouldn?t mind learning if you?re willing to teach.
