Here's another opportunity to make some friends and eat good food at Not Your Average Joe's in Medford. This is an open event, and all card and board games are welcome.
Welcome to C&C's first Hearts & Spades event. We're looking for some fine men and women interested in meeting regularly for these games. Our membership already has a good number of Hearts and Spades players, so here's your opportunity to learn, practice and master each of these games with some of the nicest people in the area.
In case you didn't already know...
- Hearts evolved from a game played around 1750 in Spain, called Reverse. Sometime around 1850, Reverse gave way to simple Hearts. It is one of the most popular card games, as it is taught to many children, and it is included as a game on most modern computers. Today, Hearts is truly a classic game.
- Spades was introduced in Cincinnati, OH, sometime between 1937 and 1939. From there, it spread to other cities in the general region and eventually into the military. Spades was played extensively during World War II as it was a fast paced game, which could be interrupted at any time – especially during an attack! Today, the game has seen an increase in popularity due to online card rooms and tournaments. The object of the card game is to gain the most points, which are acquired by winning the number of tricks bid in each hand.
If you like Spades or Hearts (or both), you'll enjoy yourself at this event. Here is your opportunity to mingle with other players, and learn how to play. If we get a good turnout for a particular game, we'll hold Hearts and Spades meetups in the future. So, turn off the computer and come join us for some cards and conversation...
In your RSVP, please indicate your interest if you have one, and if you would be willing to teach others at this event. Many of our events fill up quickly, so sign up if you are interested!
