Cards and Conversation at Jordans in Reading
Sunday Mar 14, 1:00 PM
Boston Cards and Conversation is one of the most unique communities on Meetup. We get together and play different types of games as a way to socialize and meet new people. With locations all over Greater Boston, we provide all types of events to suit every possible interest. You don't have to be an expert at any type of game to join. We're all about allowing people to get together and make new friends. Our membership is amazingly diverse, with singles and couples of all ages and cultures. All are welcome.
If you're interested in the CARDS and other games, you be amazed at the wide variety we play! Whether you are a card player or a strategy gamer, you'll find other people who want to play the same games as you. Here are some of the games that have been played at our previous meetups:
45s * 500 * Apples to Apples * Backgammon * Bananagrams * Big Two * Boggle * Bohnanza * Bridge * Briscola * Canasta * Clue * Cranium * Cribbage * Dominion * Escalation * Euchre * Five Crowns * Guillotine * French Tarot * Gin Rummy * Hearts * Killer Bunnies * King's Corners * Magic: The Gathering * Mah Jong * Pandemic * Pente * Poker * Probe * Quiddler * Quinto * Rummy * Scattergories * Scopa * Scrabble * Scrabble Slam * Setback * Settlers of Catan * Snatch-it * Spades * Things * Tripoley * Uno * Whist
However, if you're more interested in the CONVERSATION, there are many opportunities to meet people. Come to one of our 'open' events, which focus more on people than on the games. It's a fun, unique and inexpensive way to meet people. Nothing like a game of Apples to Apples to get the conversation rolling!
Are you ready to be part of the C&C Crew? Then join us! Questions? Check out our FAQ in the 'About' section: http://www.cardsconversation.org/about/
You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
"Hi Vicki -- Thanks for your comments on the new view. Unfortunately, I can't control the order of the announcements. They are meant to be in a chronological feed, as they are added to the site...."
"As many of you are aware, Meetup.com is forcing all meetup groups to adopt a "new view" for all meetup groups. While this view contains a bunch of improvements and neat features, many people may not like its Facebook-like appearance. ... MoreUnfortunately, there is nothing that I can do about it :( So tonight, I've switched C&C over to the new view. Here are the major changes: The navigation bar is no longer located on the left side of the website, but on the top. "Events" are now officially called "Meetups". You can access past and future meetups by accessing the "Meetups" option on the navigation bar. You can also see the next meetup, and other calendar information on the right-hand side of the home page. The "Latest Activity" module replaces the old "What's New" feed, and dominates the center of the screen. It contains a feed of the most recent activity on the site, Facebook style. DID YOU KNOW? You can quickly see our calendar by making a bookmark of the following link: http://www.cardsconve... I've redesigned the site to reduce clutter to the best of my ability. I would like to hear your comments on the layout. Regards, Tony "

"Announcing a new Meetup for Boston Cards and Conversation! ... MoreWhat: March's New Member Mixer When: Monday, March 15, 2010 6:30 PM Where: Not Your Average Joe's Restaurant Station Landing Medford, MA 501 Fellsway Medford, MA 02155 (781) 393-9681 Each month we have a New Member Mixer to allow some of the new members to mix and mingle with the C&C regulars. It's an open format tonight -- bring your favorite board or card game, along with some stories to tell Here's a taste of what we may be seeing: Apples to Apples: The wild, award-winning card and party game that provides instant fun for four to ten players! It's as easy as "comparing apples to apples"... just open the box, deal the cards, and you're ready to play! Select the card from your hand that you think is best described by a card played by the judge. If the judge picks your card, you win that round. And everyone gets a chance to be the judge! Each round is filled with surprising and outrageous comparisons from a wide range of people, places, things and events. Fast moving and refreshing, Apples to Apples is perfect for any get together with family and friends! Things: Things you would like to do with chocolate. What would you say? 1. Write down your answer. (You can write anything that comes to mind... so be as provocative and fun as you want) 2. Read all of the answers out loud. 3. Then try to figure out who said what! You won't believe the outrageous answers your friends will come up with! Bananagrams: The word game that is sweeping the nation... I guarantee you can't play just one game!!! Maria is your host tonight, and our last new member mixer in Medford had a lot of interest, so this will fill up fast. RSVP now while you still can HOW TO GET THERE This location is easily accessible from Rt. 16, Rt. 28 and Rt. 93, and is walking distance from the Wellington Orange Line subway stop, near the new Station Landing apartment complex. Although there is free parking around the building, we recommend that C&C members park in the garage underneath the restaurant. If you are driving, be aware that Station Landing is at the intersection of Rt. 16 and Rt. 28, and you can enter the Station Landing complex from the north-bound side of Rt. 28, or the east-bound side of Rt. 16. There are a number of stores in the Station Landing complex -- look for Starbucks or Qdoba. Not Your Average Joe's is right next to these shops, and has a blue and white sign. So don't just sit at home -- come join the fun! Learn more here: http://www.cardsconve... "
